Msc Cruise Ship Fire

The MSC cruise ship MSC Lirica has suffered what appearesto be a major fire while docked at the port of Corfu in Greece.

From a preliminary assessment there was no damage to the inside of the ship but only to her side due to the flames and the dense black smoke caused by the fiberglass lifeboatsaccording to a statement from MSC Cruises. The blaze which broke out on the MSC Lirica at 330pm local time is thought to have started in an empty lifeboat. A fire broke out this afternoon on MSC Lirica cruise ship according to a Greek reporter Kerkyra Simera.

March 12 2021. By 430 pm. MSC Cruises said a fire broke out aboard one of its vessels idled in Greece on Thursday.

No injuries have been reported following the fire. A fire on board MSC Lirica which seems to be originated in an empty lifeboat on deck 6 was reported to the emergency services earlier today in Corfu where the ship is currently in warm layup.
