Carnival Cruise Ship Catches Fire

The National Transportation Safety Board determined that the probable cause of fire aboard the Ecstasy was the unauthorized welding by crewmembers in the main laundry that ignited a large accumulation of lint in the ventilation system and the failure of Carnival Cruise Lines to maintain the laundry exhaust ducts in a fire-safe condition.

Carnival cruise ship catches fire. In January the engine room aboard the Boudicca caught fire while it was off the coast of Morocco. The Carnival Triumph fire is just the latest in a string of serious incidents involving cruise ships most notably the Costa Concordia capsizing. Passengers were flown home from the island cutting their seven-day cruise short.

In 1995 the Carnival Celebration caught fire. The ships on-board system did not suppress the fire. A Royal Caribbean cruise ship bound for the Bahamas catches fire.

Carnivals passengers and crew members were extremely lucky in that incident. Thankfully nobody was injured. Passengers and crew jumped into the sea clinging to floating objects as they struggled in the choppy water while the fire on the ferry sent up black clouds of smoke.

Additionally in 2013 three Carnival cruise ships were ported after engine room fire problems. A Carnival cruise ship engine caught fire Monday during a Caribbean voyage. The 180000 gross ton cruise ship will begin sailing the new Carnival Terminal 3 at Port Canaveral on November 14 2020.

On August 27 2016 between 8-9 pm a fire broke out on causing damages to a passenger cabin balcony on Upper Deck 6. The popular cruise related website stated that the master of the ship made an announcement around 715 am. For more information please read the story at Cruise Law News.
